Freshly baked gingerbread Before & After shots fr Freshly baked gingerbread

Before & After shots from a Christmassy kitchen.

Decided to try out a really simple gingerbread recipe I recently learned.

For one baking tray use:
350g all-purpose flour
300g sugar
150g candied fruits (orangeat/citronat)
100g ground hazelnuts
3 tsp Gingerbread spice
1 tsp ground cloves
1 sachet baking powder
1 sachet vanillin sugar
250ml milk
150g melted butter
4 eggs
2 Tbsp honey

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
Mix all wet ingredients in another bowl. Stir wet and dry ingredients together until smooth. Line baking tray with parchment paper, pour dough onto tray. Bake at 200°C for 15-20 mins (depends on oven).
Cut while still warm.

Enjoy 😘🎄🍪🎄

My Peak Challenge. Lovely swag waiting for me whe My Peak Challenge.

Lovely swag waiting for me when I got home.

I joined MPC earlier this year and love the programme! I've been representing MPC in my MPC2022, Peaker and Peakership T-shirts the last few weeks, but decided to also represent the Peaker Writers and United Frenchy sPeakers communities from now on.
Love the MPC recipes but hated the collection of loose recipe sheets, so I got my copy of the official MPC cookbook bound properly so it's all in one place (and no, this is NOT an official cover, nor is it for sale. I just can't deal with loose recipe collections and needed a cover image). Can't wait to see what MPC2023 will be like 😍

Loch & Castle. The ruin of Urquhart Castle ruin s Loch & Castle.

The ruin of Urquhart Castle ruin sits on the shore of Loch Ness, near Drumnadrochit. The castle was built between the 13th and 16th centuries, and destroyed after 1690 to prevent Jacobites from using the castle and it's strategic position in the Scottish Highlands. It not only sits on the shore of Scotland's second biggest Loch by surface after Loch Lomond (and due to it's depth, Loch Ness is Britain's largest Loch by volume), it also commands the Great Glen and Glen Urquhart. Loch Ness itself is the largest body of water in the Great Glen, which stretches from Inverness to Fort William.

As someone afraid of heights, leaning out that 13th century tower window wasn't as easy as it looks. But then again, I couldn't really pass up a Rapunzel moment, even though my hair clearly wasn't long enough.

Caerlaverock is a moated, triangular castle, first built in the 13th century and served as a stronghold for Clan Maxwell until the 17th century, when it was besieged and later abandoned. It is located south of Dumfries, along the river Nith and the coast of the Solway Firth in the lowlands of Scotland.

Book mail 😍😍😍 Just received the most ama Book mail 😍😍😍

Just received the most amazing book mail! I had ordered signed copies of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, plus the collection "Seven Stones To Stand Or Fall" , from @poisonedpenbookstore. The website said that copies of the 9th book "Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone" may be personalised by Diana Gabaldon on request (turns out The Poisoned Pen is her local bookstore!), so I thought I'd ask, though I didn't expect anything.
Today, the first parcel arrived - my order got split into 2 parcels. Imagine my surprise and absolute delight at finding ALL THE BOOKS signed and personalised "To Conny" 😍😍😍 I'm currently in Reader, Outlander Fan and Book Collector heaven! 😍📖😍📖😍 Thank you so much to @writer_dg for taking the time to personalise the books for me. You have no idea how much this means to me! And a massive thank you to The Poisoned Pen as well, for going way above and beyond in customer service.

And now excuse me while I go back to Scotland, 1743.

Stroll through the old centre of Solingen-Gräfrat Stroll through the old centre of Solingen-Gräfrath yesterday. The slate and timberframe houses (and green shutters) are typical for this region. Some of them date back to the early 17th century - like the restaurant built in 1619. The church and convent were founded in 1187 but the buildings today date to the early 1700s as the original structures were destroyed by fire in 1686.
